Edition 13
Editorial Integration & Publishing System.
The pass where eighteen scattered systems became one publication.
Edition 13 is the spine pass. It introduces no new top-level systems. Instead it wires everything Edition 12 added — Field Reports, Collections, Field Guides, Trackers, Bundles, the Citation Registry — into a single Knowledge Graph and a single Civic Library. Every page now ends with a "What next?" instead of a dead end.
Added
- Publication Architecture — one master registry adapts every per-kind list (handbooks, packets, field guides, field reports, collections, citations).
- Knowledge Graph — typed edges (companion, prerequisite, recommendedNext, cited-by, mentioned-in). Edges auto-mirror so relationships are reciprocal.
- The Civic Library at /library — front door for researchers.
- The Civic Canon at /canon — editorial top ten.
- The Plate Registry at /about/plates — every illustration, indexed.
- Reading status dots stored locally (○ ◐ ✓). Cleared with one button.
- Universal Sidebar exposing Editorial DNA on every publication.
- "What next?" strip on every leaf, computed from the graph.
- Understated errata footer on every handbook.
- Plate of the Week + From the Field strips on the home page.
Tightened
- Footer collapsed from encyclopedic to editorial.
- Workbench tiles reordered by likely first-use.
- Civic Language Audit doc published; codemod follows in 13.1.
- Illustration Grammar promoted from bible to spec.
New bylaws
Ten new bylaws (31–40): Reachability, Strengthen before expand, Action before knowledge, No dead ends, Relationships first-class, Every illustration teaches, Editions accumulate, One graph, Local-only reading status, Voice QA advisory.
Deferred to Edition 13.1
- Full 12-handbook citation backfill + Sources appendices.
- Internal Publication Health Dashboard.
