A project was announced. What should I do first?

Five simple steps any neighbour can take this week. Printable, shareable, no tools required.

Estimated time · 10–15 minutes
  1. Step 01

    Create a folder

A physical envelope or a folder on your phone. One place where every notice, photo, and note lives.

  2. Step 02

    Take photos today

Snap the notice, the property, the fence, the trees. Date-stamped photos are the most useful evidence later.

  3. Step 03

    Save every notice

Mailed letters, taped-up signs, emails — save them all. Don't recycle anything until this is over.

  4. Step 04

    Talk to a neighbour

Two heads beat one. Find one neighbour and trade what you each know.

  5. Step 05

    Write down your questions

Even the obvious ones. Bring them to meetings, send them in writing, ask for written answers.

One small move beats a perfect plan.

Pick one. Even just creating a folder puts you ahead of where most neighbours start.

Why these five?

They cost nothing, work without any technology, and give you a foundation that every later step builds on.

Find the path that matches your situation.

Each path gives you context, what's likely happening, and its own first-steps list.
