Understanding Rezoning Signs
The yellow sign on the parcel — what it actually says.

What the sign means
A rezoning sign means an applicant has asked to change what's allowed on the parcel. It does not mean approval.
Every sign carries an application number. Write it down — that number unlocks the application packet at the agency.
What to do this week
Photograph the sign with a date in the frame. Capture the application number, the case planner's name, and the hearing date.
Pull the application packet from the agency website using the application number. Read the cover sheet first.
If you only remember five things
- The sign starts a clock — note the date you first saw it.
- The application number on the sign opens the agency record.
- The hearing date is rarely the deadline for written comment.
- Mailed notice goes to adjacent owners — ask neighbours what they received.
- Photograph the sign before it disappears.
