Local offices (city / county)
There is no national directory for these. Each city or county runs its own. Here is what to search for:
Planning department
Search '[your city or county] planning department' or visit your city/county website.
Zoning office / Board of Adjustment
Usually inside the planning department; look for a 'zoning' or 'land use' page.
Code enforcement
Often under 'community development', 'neighborhood services', or 'public safety'.
Public works
Stormwater, streets, water, sewer. Usually a top-level city/county department.
County commission / city council
Search '[your jurisdiction] meetings' for agendas and how to comment.
County recorder / register of deeds
For deeds, plats, easements. Often searchable online.
